AWANA PROGRAM (Ages 3K-12th Grade)
AWANA meets every Friday night from 6:45-8:15 PM. The club year runs from September to May. The program begins with an opening Flag Ceremony and is then divided into three segments: Game Time, Handbook Time, and Council Time. These three segments provide a full nightly experience. Each has its own purpose but all are FUN!
Flag Ceremony
The Flag Ceremony is a time when Sparks and T&T club members assemble together on the Game Circle to pay respect to our nation’s and the AWANA flag. Using clubbers to attend to the flags, the club is called to order. Flags are presented, pledges are recited, and the evening is opened with prayer. Also during this time, awards are presented, announcements are made, and clubs are dismissed to their first activity.
Council Time
This is a quality time for age-appropriate group Bible studies or sharing of Biblical truths in story, song, and testimonies. The Bible truths are the heart of AWANA council time and are designed to help clubbers grow in their relationships with Christ.
Handbook Time
Clubbers work one-on-one with a trained leader to complete assignments in the achievement-oriented curriculum materials. These include entrance booklets, handbooks, handbook reviews, and memory packets. AWANA emphasizes memorization and understanding of key Bible verses that show how to know God, walk with Him, and serve Him. Clubbers are awarded throughout the year for their achievements as they progress through the handbooks.
Game Time
Every AWANA Club meeting includes a high-energy Game time featuring individual and team competitions that take place on the AWANA circles. These games are exclusive to the AWANA program. Every child gets involved every night and has a chance to unleash his or her energy. This time also provides an opportunity to develop a good sense of sportsmanship and teamwork.
